TRX Suspension Training has been a huge value in treating numerous injuries in the physical therapy setting. In the rehabilitation setting we always try to find the most efficient and effective treatment techniques that will allow our patients to move better, feel better, and be better.   TRX allows an individual to move through a full, pain-free ROM because you are able to "deload" yourself in a functional movement pattern.  For instance, we can use the TRX in training an elderly individual with knee pain how to stand up and sit down into a chair safely. The straps allow the individual to perform a squat with assistance and proper form. The exercise can then be progressed to only one hand and finally without assistance as they get more accustomed to the movement.

A young athlete getting back from an ACL reconstruction in the early stages can also benefit from these squat movements and then progress into single leg squats and lunges as they progress through their protocol. As the athlete progresses into sport-specific activities, the TRX can assist in appropriate technique.

One huge advantage of the TRX is that it effectively improves mobility. Golfers require a lot of rotational movements through their backswing. If any movement is limited such as the thoracic spine, excessive stresses are going to be placed on other parts of the body. If we train the individual in proper movement patterns, those stresses are decreased and we prevent pain from occurring.

But the TRX is not only used as an assistive device. It can be used anywhere and it uses your body weight as resistance. Depending on the angle your body is in space makes the difficulty of the exercise easier or harder. It is a workout device that you can set up in a hotel room while you are traveling for work, on a tree in your back yard or in a park, or at the gym on a cable machine. There are no excuses that your home exercise program or a daily workout can not occur because of time and equipment.
