As you age, your joints will sustain a significant amount of wear and tear. Sustaining pain-free joints will require practicing good joint preservation techniques. Here are a few tips that can help treat joint pains as you age.

Use

To avoid pain, don’t overextend or place your joints in stressful positions. Instead, flex your joints in the manner for which they are intended.

Motion

To sustain mobility and freedom from pain, move each joint through its full range of motion each day. Move your joints slow and gently to avoid injury and overextending.

Posture

How you carry your body is what impacts if your joints will remain pain-free. Pick up items using your legs and not your lower back. Make sure to carry heavy objects by cradling them close to your body. Adjust your work space to modify your specifications.

Be Active

Make sure you do not keep your joints in the same position for a prolonged period of time. This way you will avoid having your joints become stiff. If you are in situations where this cannot be avoided such as long car rides, make sure you take a break every hour to stretch and adjust your seating position.
