Coronavirus Preparedness Update

UPDATED 8.18.2020
Updated Safety Measures at Our Offices section.

How We’re Caring for Our Community

We understand the uncertainty all our friends, family, and community members face as we address the spread of COVID-19. Nothing is more important to us at Ortho Rhode Island than your health, safety, and comfort.

We are closely monitoring the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and are following all precautions and policies recommended by the CDC and the RI Department of Health to help protect staff and patients.

Click to visit the RI Department of Health for more information on COVID-19.

Our offices have implemented social distancing policies and have limited the number of patients gathered in waiting rooms according to CDC recommendations.

As we continue to provide patient care, we are committed to accommodating your needs. Please see the following appointment options for Ortho Rhode Island patients:

  • Reschedule appointment – If you or a loved one have any scheduling questions or concerns, please call 401.777.7000. Our team will work to reschedule any appointments and procedures for a later date.
  • Keep existing appointment – Our offices remain open, and patients are welcome to keep their existing appointments.
  • Phone call with provider – In place of an in-person visit, patients can request a personal phone call with their provider when clinically appropriate.
  • Telehealth appointment – Ortho Rhode Island now offers telehealth appointments when clinically appropriate. These appointments will allow patients to speak to their Ortho Rhode Island provider remotely via video on a HIPPA-compliant platform.

Important Patient Guidelines

  • If you or those you have been in close contact with feel sick or are currently experiencing fever or signs of respiratory illness, we ask that you please call 401.777.7000 to reschedule your appointment.
  • If you have traveled within the country to Rhode Island from a state with a positivity rate of COVID-19 greater than 5% (listed here) please call to reschedule. The RI Department of Health requires travelers from these states to self-quarantine for 14 days while in Rhode Island.
For more information on travel, please visit the RI Department of Health.
  • To help maintain a safe environment for our patients, staff, and physicians, please attend any scheduled appointment alone or with essential caregivers only.
  • Please click to read guidelines from the CDC to help us take proper steps to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

A Reminder to Wear Masks or Face Coverings

To help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 while speaking, coughing, or sneezing, patients must wear a mask or face covering when visiting Ortho Rhode Island offices, as required by the Executive Order of the Governor of Rhode Island. These face coverings should cover your mouth and nose, and may include scarves, bandanas, and homemade masks. We will provide a disposable mask if needed. As always, we are grateful for the patience and cooperation of our patients and our community while we navigate these challenging times.

Safety Measures at Our Offices

As part of our ongoing efforts to protect the health of our patients, Ortho Rhode Island is implementing additional precautions against the transmission of the coronavirus. Staff members wearing protective masks and gear will greet patients at the entrances of all Ortho Rhode Island offices to review a screening checklist. We strongly encourage all patients attend in-person appointments alone, if possible.

We’d also like to remind our patients that telehealth appointments are available when clinically appropriate, and if you wish to reschedule an appointment, our staff will work to accommodate your needs.

Thank you to our community for your continued patience as we seek to ensure your well-being during this trying time.

Update from Our Billing Department
