Innovative Technology Developed in Rhode Island Helps Local Woman's Recovery from a Complicated Injury

Last week, Dr. Michael Bradley performed a first-ever surgical treatment using the IlluminOss Photodynamic Bone Stabilization System. This technology, developed in Rhode Island, allowed Dr. Bradley to perform a minimally invasive surgery using a patient-conforming implant that offered rapid stability and additional fixation to strengthen a complicated bone fracture. The surgery was performed in partnership with South County Health, at South County Hospital in Wakefield, Rhode Island.

"This was a very difficult fracture in an osteoporotic bone with minimal treatment options that would provide early mobility. This technology provided us a new solution in fracture repair," said Dr. Bradley.
