Justin Kleiner, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand and upper-extremity surgeon, specializing in comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and elbow.
Dr. Kleiner completed the highly selective Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) at Brown University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics-Biology and his medical degree from The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Boston University, followed by a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where he received specialized training in complex hand, wrist, and elbow conditions.
His clinical interests include carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, arthritis, fracture care, tendon and ligament injuries, nerve compression, sports injuries, and work-related and occupational injuries. He has expertise in minimally invasive hand surgery, including endoscopic carpal tunnel release, ultrasound-guided procedures, and wrist and elbow arthroscopy.
Dr. Kleiner is committed to evidence-based care, informed by his extensive orthopedic research experience. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, and presentations at national orthopedic conferences. His research experience supports his approach to providing patients with current, thoughtful, and individualized treatment recommendations.
Dr. Kleiner chose hand surgery for the opportunity to make a tangible impact on patients’ lives, and finds it deeply rewarding to help patients restore function, relieve pain, and return to work, sports, hobbies, and daily activities. He values building lasting, trusting relationships with his patients, and works with each individual to develop a treatment plan based on their symptoms, lifestyle, occupation, and goals.
With strong family ties to Rhode Island, Dr. Kleiner is proud to serve patients throughout the community. Outside of medicine, he enjoys sailing, tennis, and spending time with family.
