Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the time of year when we reflect on what we are most thankful for in our lives. When I recount, it is clear that I am a lucky man. Each day I go to work; I am reminded how blessed I am to move without pain. Sure I have aches from time to time, but many of the people I care for rarely find moments without pain. I am grateful for my body, and my ability to move. I am grateful that I can use that movement to help others function with less pain, and regain their desired quality of life.

I am grateful for the staff at Ortho RI who work tirelessly each day. Their efforts allow me to care for patients and their families. Endless paperwork, continuous calls, busy clinics and challenging insurance companies are only a few of their daily tasks. They largely go unrecognized, but without them, we cannot provide the level of care our patients have come to expect.

I am grateful for the staff at South County Health who help me care for my patients that have surgery. The empathy and concern shown for every patient is exceptional. I continue to choose South County Hospital for my patients because of the continued positive feedback. It is the people who work at South County Health that make it such an exceptional place.

I am grateful for the trust of my patients. I have previously written in this blog about how remarkable it is for a patient to trust a surgeon with their body. I understand that my patients have a choice in who cares for their spine, and I appreciate that their choice lands with my care. I take this very seriously and am humbled by the many I have the opportunity to serve.

Finally, I am grateful for my family. It is their love, support and patience that carries me through my days. The life of a surgeon is stressful and busy, yet they guide me through it all.

I hope you all can find time to reflect on the things that make you most thankful.
