What is a Mid Level Provider?

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants at OrthoRI offer a myriad of knowledge, experience, and skill to their team and to the organization as a whole. The mid-level provider has the autonomy to work individually within a group setting. One of the biggest contributions that NP’s and PA’s provide is their ability to assess, diagnose, and treat much like a physician would, allowing orthopedic surgeons to spend more time in the operating room. This autonomy allows the NP or PA to grow individually bringing forth their own sense of style offering the ultimate experience to the patient.
There are varying degrees of patients that seek orthopedic medical advice with varying degrees of problems: aches, pains, early stages of arthritis, advanced arthritis, broken bones… the list goes on. Some patients have different emotional needs during this time as well and need tender, confident guidance as to what would be in their best interest. As we listen to our patients expectations during the office visit, we are able to guide our patients toward the best outcome for them given age, their expectations, and perceived expected outcome.
The ability of the NP or PA to navigate patients through what may be perceived as a difficult time for them only solidifies the experience and allows the patient to feel comfortable with their care no matter the level of the provider that is giving it.
