Ortho Rhode Island Names New Regional Director of Rehabilitation

The patients at Ortho Rhode Island aren’t the only ones making big strides this summer. Kyle Anderson, PT, MSPT, OCS has been named the Regional Director of Rehabilitation at Ortho Rhode Island, a position responsible for overseeing physical therapy, hand therapy and athletic training services to help patients return to their most important daily activities.

“Rehab services play an integral role in the recovery process of all orthopedics injuries,” Anderson said. “Physical therapy and hand therapy are effective in treating operative and non-operative patients, promoting functional recovery and the achievement of patient goals.”

Practicing in Providence, Warwick, Wakefield, East Greenwich, and Westerly, Ortho Rhode Island’s rehab team consists of roughly forty physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, certified hand therapists, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and athletic trainers.

The Regional Director of Rehabilitation is tasked with maintaining the continuum of care between physicians and the rehab team, ensuring patients receive the support and treatment they need during their recovery. According to Anderson, the changing landscape of healthcare demands efficient, coordinated rehab services based on quality and outcomes.

“My purpose is to align our efforts in providing Ortho Rhode Island patients the highest quality of care and ease of accessibility,” he explained. “The Regional Director of Rehab is responsible for establishing an environment of excellence, promoting high quality care to serve the orthopedic needs of the Ortho Rhode Island patients.”

Anderson started as a staff physical therapist at Ortho Rhode Island’s Providence location in 2011, eventually becoming Clinical Operations Manager and Director of Physical Therapy before assuming his latest role. Throughout his career, Anderson has experienced firsthand Ortho Rhode Island’s unique approach to rehab.

“It is the team approach at Ortho Rhode Island that differentiates us as a leader in orthopedics,” he said. “The rehab department’s clinical expertise and close working relationship with the Ortho Rhode Island physicians ensures every patient receives comprehensive personalized care.”

As part of this care, Ortho Rhode Island’s therapists provide advanced facilities and individualized programs tailored to each patient. These resources are crucial to the rehab team’s success. “Ortho Rhode Island is committed to offering our communities state-of-the-art-service, and it is my goal to station this organization as the leader in all aspects of rehabilitation,” Anderson said.

It’s a challenge he will embrace in his new role. “Therapists are in a position to have significant impact on someone’s life, often when they are struggling with feelings of pain, fear and anxiety about their wellbeing,” he said.

“It is very motivating to experience the success of the patient and their ability to return to the activities they love.”
