Manual Therapy/Soft Tissue Mobilization

Ortho Rhode Island physical therapists frequently utilize manual therapy as a component of treatment planning. After a thorough evaluation, the therapist will determine which manual techniques are appropriate to achieve the patient’s goals. Manual therapy is effective in decreasing pain, reducing muscle tension, improving joint stiffness, and facilitating the restoration of functional movement patterns.

Manual therapy treatments come in many forms including:

  • Joint mobilization
  • Soft tissue mobilization
  • Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization
  • Spinal mobilization/manipulation
  • Muscular release techniques
  • Positional release techniques
  • Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation

Manual therapy is an excellent addition to a comprehensive therapy program to help you meet your rehab goals.
