Ortho RI is seeking to hire Patient Access Agents for our Call Center. We offer the opportunity to work with world class physicians and clinicians in a high energy, patient focused, results oriented, state of the flagship campus. Our Patient Access Agent is the first point of contact for all Ortho RI patients who are contacting the company by telephone. The Patient Access Agent is responsible for answering and triaging incoming calls to the proper location; all aspects of patient scheduling, including processing referrals, and managing consult requests. Our Patient Access agents focus on delivering a consistent, and exceptional level of service, measured through observation, coaching and feedback.

Essential Functions

  • Promptly answer calls using positive and clear communication to provide patient-focused service and a positive impression of the organization.
  • Handle all calls and referrals, in accordance with organization-identified metrics for productivity and desired service levels.
  • Ability to triage patients and accurately schedule them based on defined appointment booking protocols or navigate patient to the correct area of care for handling.
  • Schedule online and faxed requests for appointments.
  • Accurately and expeditiously register patients, and relate appointment protocols to patient
  • Work and support fellow team members, and peers through positive interactions, as we identify and continue efforts to enhance service excellence.
  • Use of Centricity, SRS, Phoenix and AllMeds EMRs for multiple office appointment scheduling, as well as various insurance portals for verification of insurance, and referral procurement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • 2-3 years’ experience in Call Center environment, or high-volume appointment scheduling environment.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree
  • Discretion to work with confidential information
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Regulations
  • Pertinent job-related experience and Medical Terminology
  • Bilingual Spanish or Portuguese a plus
