Ortho RI, Rhode Island’s largest orthopedic care provider, offers patients with orthopedic injuries a better alternative to care through its Ortho RI Express immediate care centers. With fall sports just starting and winter around the corner, injuries needing immediate attention are bound to happen.
With better surgical outcomes as the goal, Ortho RI strives to stay in the forefront of emerging technology, such as robotics. Most recently, their leading robotic joint replacement surgeon, Robert C. Marchand, MD, launched a Robotic Joint Replacement Institute to offer the most advanced and comprehensive treatment for partial knee replacement, total knee replacement and total hip replacement patients.
Dr. Anthony Mechrefe, an Ortho Rhode Island orthopedic surgeon, will be sharing his expertise with the public at a series of open seminars. He will discuss causes of ankle pain as well as non-surgical and surgical alternatives.

With the recruitment of Dr. Ian A. Madom, another piece of the puzzle has been put into place at Ortho Rhode Island, a collaborative statewide orthopedics practice launched in 2015 that now has 17 locations and more than 55 care providers throughout Rhode Island and Southern New England.
The RIIL announced today a three-year partnership agreement with Ortho RI that will result in world-class sports medicine advice and clinical care expertise. The partnership will also create a collaborative community relations outreach programs through Athletic Trainers in Rhode Island high schools and pre-participation physicals.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I — A South County Hospital physician is the first in the world certified to do total knee replacements using a robot.
Sixty-five total knee replacements have been done since June using this advanced technology at that hospital.
WAKEFIELD – The story of how Ortho Rhode Island came to be is one that is often typical of how the innovation ecosystem works best: five colleagues from Rhode Island met up at an orthopedic conference. All worked for competing specialist practices, yet they were also friends and respected colleagues, having trained together at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.
