We’re proud to announce that Peter A. Pizzarello Jr., MD, Brian H. Cohen, MD and Travis D. Blood, MD have joined Ortho Rhode Island, helping to bring our innovative treatments and orthopedic technologies to CharterCARE patients, including robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery with Mako, nano-operative arthroscopy, complex shoulder reconstruction, and more.

Peter A. Pizzarello Jr., MD

Robotic Joint Replacement & Sports Medicine

Dr. Pizzarello is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who performs general orthopedic surgery, specializing in treating the hip, knee and shoulder joints, including arthroscopy and robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement with Mako. Dr. Pizzarello acquired advanced arthroscopic skills during his time at the Tufts Sports Medicine Fellowship through New England Baptist Hospital and Caritas St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Massachusetts, where he also gained experience caring for athletes while assisting the head physician of the Boston College football program.

Brian H. Cohen, MD

Sports Medicine & Trauma

Dr. Cohen is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in open and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle for active and sport-related injuries of all ages. He also has a special interest in young adult hip pain and hip arthroscopy. While completing an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Iowa, Dr. Cohen was a team physician for the University of Iowa Football team and all Hawkeye athletics.

Travis D. Blood, MD

Hand, Upper Extremity & Microvascular Surgery

Dr. Blood is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who cares for a variety of conditions of the upper limb, including sports-related injuries, arthritis, and compression neuropathies, with special interest in acute upper limb trauma and post-traumatic reconstruction of complex injuries of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. During his orthopedic surgery residency at Brown University, Dr. Blood received several awards such as Most Valuable Resident Physician, Consultant of the Year, and the prestigious Haffenraffer House Staff Award for outstanding commitment to patient care and leadership.
